A Terrifying Truth
It has imposed itself upon me,
and I have no choice but to accept it;
but it hurts to say it: there is a terrible
truth about our life that we cannot bear
to see—the fault lies not in the stars,
but in ourselves; and try as we may
to refute it, it is forever forced upon us
at the turn of every season. As the acorn
seed must become an oak tree, and so
is every soul destined to grow into what
we are meant to be; and as terrifying
as this truth that we refuse to see will be,
we are condemned to live it, all the
suffering notwithstanding.
