Sunday poem: "Covid Fatigue"

Covid Fatigue

Oh, what a time it’s been, this covid thing,
and it’s far from over yet. The days are much
longer than the nights, with no end in sight,
and time’s running thin for a vaccine to recover
from covid fatigue and severed economy, with
all the little people hurting as never before;
and the lessons to be learned from COVID-19
just keep on coming: truth, compassion, and
forgiveness, time-proven virtues that heal the
ruptured soul. But not until we compromise
our foolish pride, will we rise to the noble
enterprise of our own humanity.
