Putin’s Nightmare
Thursday, February 24, 2022, the day,
month, and year of the unthinkable horror
of the unprovoked invasion of Ukraine
by Russia’s nuclear-threatening war
machine, decimating cities and murdering
innocent people, displacing millions
from their homes and country, all to satisfy
President Vladimir Putin’s egomaniacal
lust to make real his demented dream
of resurrecting his country to its former
Soviet glory, and the genocidal murder
of distinctly Ukrainian people, many old
enough to remember the unthinkable horror
of the Nazi holocaust, crying in one voice
for the world to help them survive
Putin’s nightmare.
